I bought the cord which was for my compaq and the cord broke in the first week of use. The plug that you put in the actual computer was two millimeters too small which did not let the computer charge or even turn it on. DO NOT BUY this cord, I really want a refund!!! It was a real waste of money.

First let me say that it was surprisingly difficult to identify a genuine HP charger on Amazon. Most of the chargers sold are bogus “replacement” chargers falsely labeled as “genuine” and “original”. They even display pictures of the real HP chargers on these items and many people are fooled. I made sure to report a few false images and misleading descriptions while searching.
Finally I found a genuine charger for my laptop! It even came with the power cord, and at a great price. The description said “OEM” so I took a chance with the seller (NewMP3Technology), and I could not be more satisfied with my purchase. My laptop works fine now.
My advice to anyone who owns one of these (or any laptop charger) is do not let it fall on hard surfaces. This seems to be the number one reason these things fail.

Excellent product, the cord is a little short but an extension cord fixed it . Buy it!!

I had to replace my OEM power supply as it was not able to power well anymore. This replacement unit is the same size and power connections as the original. It doesn’t seem to heat up as much as the old one did. What else can you say about a switching power supply, it works, stays cool, is quiet.

I’ve had this for several weeks now. My original charger stopped working consistently (at first I thought it was a bad connection with the plug into the computer). Then I realized that my original charger only worked some of the time. While this new unit does run a little warm at times, so did the old one. I haven’t had a problem charging over extended computing times. As with my computer, sometimes it’s best to make sure you put it laying flat on a solid surface so the heat gets transferred away. I’d buy this over an off brand as an original part.
