I was looking aroung for this camera over the holiday sales. This was the best price I found anywhere.

On the first day of use the camera seemed to jam. I had to take the battery out to turn it off to reset it. The next time I went to use it I had a very hard time getting it to turn on. I thought it must be a contact point with the battery and tried to troubleshoot as best as I could. Finally got it to turn on and yes, it does take great pictures and video. No problem with the photos, quality or clarity – as long as you can turn it on. Yesterday it wouldn’t come on no matter what I tried and I am now sending it back. I thought about exchanging it and trying the same one again but I think I am going to go with something else this time.

I admit, I was impressed with this camera and its price. Unfortunately, after taking reasonable care by putting it in a protected camera case and then carefully placing it in my carry on luggage, the back screen has shattered. Of course, the big screen was a selling point, but you may want to consider that it is very fragile and thin. Although not 2 months old, the camera store will not take it back and states that Nikon will not replace it as it was my fault. I can’t say I blame them, but Nikon should have engineering look at the thin glass on their big screen.

I got this camera 2 day’s before a week long trip to Disneyland/L.A.
It’s small and metal constructed. Nice.
Unless you have more time than I did. Leave it on Auto. During the trip I messed with the settings on the go. And regret it.
The options and menu’s can confuse anyone, if you don’t know the equipment.
Now, a month later. I love my Coolpix S570.
For the construction, portability and price? It’s a steal.
